A night in Merzouga: what to ask before you book

The right camp is about more than a photograph. Compare the rooms, transfers and time you actually have beside the dunes.

Decide how much time you want by the dunes

A night in the desert is often part of a longer drive between cities. Look at both the arrival day and the morning after. If you want time around Merzouga as well as a camp stay, ask for an extra night in the area.

Ask about the room, not just the camp name

Check the bed setup, whether the bathroom is private and how the camp is reached. Tell the team if steps, sand or climbing into a vehicle could be difficult. Photographs help you understand the style, but the written room details explain what you are booking.

Choose your transfer before you arrive

If you would like a camel ride, include it in the planning conversation. If you would prefer a vehicle transfer, say so at the same time. The available arrangements depend on the camp and conditions, so confirm the option as part of your itinerary.

Keep an overnight bag within reach

Ask where your main luggage will stay during the camp visit. Pack the things you need until the next day in a smaller bag: a change of clothes, toiletries, any personal essentials and a charging cable. Keep a layer handy for the evening, and check the forecast close to departure.

Compare the whole stay

Read the quote for the transfer, meals and activities as well as the room. Ask which parts are included and which are optional. That makes it easier to compare two camp proposals without guessing from the headline price or a sunset photograph.

Leave space on either side

The route into Merzouga can be a substantial driving day. Choose overnight stops that break up the journey, and avoid building the return around a tight flight connection. When you share your dates, we can help you decide whether a short desert route or a longer circuit suits the time you have.

A few dates, the number of people traveling and the places on your mind. That is enough for Mohamed and the team to start planning with you.
